WHO: City of New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, Jr.; WTNH News Channel 8/MyTV 9’s own Gil Simmons; Mike Casparino of People’s United Bank; student performances by Brennan-Rogers School, Wexler-Grant School, Celentano Museum Academy, and the Educational Center for the Arts Vocal Ensemble; Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald
WHAT: The holiday tree lighting of a 65-foot-tall Norway spruce presented by the City of New Haven Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees. From 4-8pm, there will be a number of free activities- carousels and mini-car rides for kids and holiday crafting. Last year attendance estimates were around 5,000 for the annual event.
“This is a festive annual tradition for families to enjoy in New Haven,” said Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. “This is a great opportunity for both visitors and residents to enjoy the food, family fun, nightlife and the arts in New Haven. I invite everyone to come down and join-in on free, family time entertainment this week.”
